2023 Wedding Trends

2023 Wedding Trends

Out with the old…

There’s nothing that sparks our creativity more than looking into top wedding trends, so if you’re looking for inspiration for your wedding, read on for some of the biggest wedding trends for 2023!

From simple details to much bigger considerations like sustainability, some of the wedding trends for 2023 are set to break with tradition and re-invent the wedding mould, making it more individual to each couple and a real experience for your guests.

In with the new…

Outdoor Weddings

Prior to 2020, you could only get married outdoors in England and Wales if your wedding venue had a licensed structure. However, the pandemic saw lots of couples opting to get wed outdoors for safety reasons, so temporary permission was granted to allow licensed venues to host ceremonies outdoors, whether they had a structure outside or not. This proved so popular that it became a permanent thing and now you can marry in any location outdoors (providing your venue has a wedding licence).

TOP TIP finding a venue that offers outdoor space will help to cut down on energy costs and it’s probably very likely that you won’t need as much decor and flowers outside. Remember that you can use your beautiful venue on your invitations too!

Twilight weddings

A twilight wedding can be the perfect choice for couples who are looking to get married in the cooler months and want to create something magical. The evenings get darker quicker, and this can provide the most beautiful backdrop for your special day.

Scaled back style

Think minimal lines and shapes, and neutral shades. The approach is less is more. The current all-white trend is about taking things back to basics for a crisp, clean yet elegant look. For a modern edge, incorporate geometric elements.

TOP TIP For inspiration, have a look at our devoted save the dates. Beautiful on crisp white but available in many colour options.

Something Borrowed..

Eco-Friendly weddings

Thinking about the environmental impact your wedding can have is one of the main reasons couples decide to plan an eco-friendly wedding. Couples are exploring creative ways to celebrate responsibly, incorporating the tradition of something borrowed by upcycling old items to include in their wedding. If you want to make more sustainable choices, consider if it can be reused, recycled, repurposed, or resold after your wedding.

TOP TIP Seeds are a great option if you want to embrace this wedding trend in 2023. Our Catch the bouquet wedding stationery can be recycled and the seeded paper at the front can be planted and grown into wild flowers.

Metallic design

Incorporating metallic into your colour scheme for your wedding can be done with a full glam and shimmers look or sprinkles of shine for subtlety. Metallics are great for so many wedding themes.

TOP TIP Add a hint of what’s to come with our 'Modern Venues' save the dates. We sketch your venue and foil print in either gold, rose gold, silver or copper.

Something Blue…

Bridgerton Inspired

Pop culture never fails to inspire wedding trends, and Netflix’s Bridgerton is no exception. This British drama features period-correct Prussian blue tones, puffed sleeves, and plenty of bows. Bridgerton is still having a huge impact on weddings, with regency blue a popular choice for couples, but also blue and lavender hues are set to take over as a key wedding colour trend for 2023.

TOP TIP Add romantic regency vibes to your day with our beautiful venues wedding stationery suite.

Rust Wedding Colour Palette

Rust weddings are full of earthy colours and a bohemian style, perfect for the cooler months. Monochromatic colour schemes of blush, orange, or rose gold are a great choice for a rust wedding. You could also add neutrals like white or black for some contrasts.

TOP TIP We have so many colours to choose from and all our designs (pre-designed and bespoke) can be changed to any colour you like. Why not go with our colour scheme of golden hour? Or our colour scheme of something blue to combine with the Bridgerton inspired trend?

Bold and bright

Fitting with the trending tropical theme and the increasing popularity of destination weddings, bright colours like pink, blue, green, and orange are (jet) set to make a big and bold statement at spring and summer weddings. These bold colour combinations are different from the more traditional wedding colours.

TOP TIP Stand out from the crowd with our Bold and Beautiful Wedding Stationery design. Playful and fun, these colourful designs don’t take themselves too seriously and are an ideal match for couples who like something out of the ordinary.
